Rugby Culture Meets RC Wageningen, Where Dutch Rugby Heritage Takes Root
Club story and culture
RC Wageningen, founded on 7 May 1970, is a pillar of rugby in the centre of the Netherlands. During the club’s five year jubilee in 1975, Wageningen hosted the first officially recognised women’s rugby match in the Netherlands, a moment that helped spark the national women’s game.
The club is known for being open, international and social. Youth and adult rugby sit side by side, with men’s and women’s squads training and competing across the season. That inclusive spirit also lives in collaborations such as the Purple Lions with Eindhoven, and in a lively tradition of the third half that keeps the clubhouse buzzing.
Club details and community
Wageningen’s home is Sportpark De Zoom, where sessions blend skill work, fitness and togetherness. The membership continues to grow, welcoming newcomers as well as experienced players, and the club keeps a friendly door open to students, families and long time locals alike.
The Rugby Culture X RC Wageningen polo, tradition in every stitch
Together with RC Wageningen, Rugby Culture has created a rugby polo that carries the club’s purple pride, its inclusive ethos and its Dutch rugby roots. It is a piece that feels right at training, at the ground and in town, a simple way to wear Wageningen’s story with pride.
